But if it's for a project (school) then it's best to include as much as possible and basically show off - even if there are only 8 pages.
Agreed, I have to create a site map as part of my brief, in the end there will be more than 8pages as under the Lessons, Exercises etc there will be 3 serpeate pages lesson1.html lesson2.html, etc

How is my navigation system by the way? Is it easy enough to understand etc?

yeah it's fine - but you may want to update (C) 2006 at the bottom - It becomes such a hassle if you have a large number of pages later on.

are you saying the html to insert current year is

    Code:
    &copy <date("Y");>

    ???

    you have me very confused!

I might just remove the year part from it copyright M.Dean only.

No that's php, your server needs to have a php parser installed and setup to parse whatever file extension you are using before that code will work.

However, it is probably unnecessary. The copyright date represents the date of publication and so should be left as it is unless the page is changed (at which point it would become a range i.e. 2006-2007).

Hi everyone, just wondering what everyone here thinks of my stuff... you can view my full portfolio here - http://www.chrisphillips.co.uk/portfolio.php

    My newest ones are:
http://www.thegtaplace.com - My massively popular fansite for the Grand Theft Auto videogames which I've been running since I was 14, started over 4 years ago. Now my main money earner!
http://www.imagelodge.net - An image hosting site I coded from scratch to improve my PHP skills.

I also have 3 other game fansites which I haven't got in my portfolio, as 2 are based off my design for The GTA Place, and the other is simply a wordpress blog :p:
They're all using tableless code btw, styled purely by css. I hope my works bode well for the web development degree I'm applying for!
Interested to hear any feedback and/or constructive criticism you have though, let me know

Also I plan on sticking around these forums a bit if anyone needs html/css/php/mysql help

Nice general design. I'd be tempted to up the text size a little bit though.

www.hleventhorizon.net - nice design. Although I think some of the longer pages of text might need to have some images somewhere to break it down a bit.

    HTH :)

You shouldn't make the user wait for such a long time for the flash to load. Statistics show that if a site doesn't load within 4 seconds, customers get impatient and leave the site.
I agree, I would've left, but I'm intrested in all things todo with flash

The first one: Makes HoutBay look so dull, and it really isn't. Have you ever been there?
Do you know even know where it is? I do
    The second one:
    I think it is good
    The third one:
Very good, it's got nice touches, I like it, especially since you did it yourself!!

yes, i know where it is, and I've been there. My parents own that flat, and I was born in South Africa. Those are just the pictures i was given - it's a long way to South Africa for a few pictures, not that it matters anyway.

    Hey all

I've recently started creating an online rpg (text-based of course). I'd like to know what you guys think of it so far? Please keep in mind that I've only been coding the game for around two weeks, so ignore the lack of depth at the moment.

Feedback can be posted here, or there is a link in the game itself. Any suggestions for new ideas are welcome. Much appreciated.

Okay, I have created a "dummy" account for those who wish to try out the game, but do not feel like creating an account just yet.

I'm also looking for someone to help me with the game's concept (and also helping me decide what to put into the game). I was thinking along the lines of a medieval theme? If anyone is interesting in helping out, let me know in this thread. Remember the game will be written solely in PHP, so no JS ideas yeah?

    Credit will be given.
