A level maths algebra help

Hi there

Please could someone help with this question, really rather simple but I'm at a blank at the moment..

how do I get from:

1/8y=1/2x

to become

4y=x

As per the screenshot attached, ignore the notation in the screenshot

Ya is just Y and YB is just x to make things simpler.
Multiplying both sides by a number, which is______________

well, multiplying both sides with 8y gives : 1= 8y/2x
then multiplying both sides with 2x gives : 2x = 8y
Dividing both side by 2 gives : x = 4y
There you go
What do you think might be the way forward ?

It is ridiculously over complicated and long winded with an unnecessary step.
Sorry.

Sorry.

Seeing that this guy cannot solve this problem I assumed it would not hurt to add the extra step.

Still does the job regardless of the method.

As long as the OP understands the method, there's no problem.

No problem

The guidance encourages us to ask questions and develop understanding rather than give answers

You will know for next time

What?
I was asking a genuine question
You post a comment on a forum that people are using to learn - why can I no ask for clarification
