Studying is making my social anxiety worse?

I thought i got rid of most of my social anxiety but for whatever reason since i've started studying hardcore for my A-level exams i've found myself getting nervous talking to people i don't know too well etc. and all the irrational things i thought i got rid of.

I saw our college's therapist or w/e about this before and it didn't help but eventually it almost completely went away on its own, but now i'm studying loads and spending a lot of time on my own getting work done it seems like i'm a mess whenever i try and go out of my comfort zone and socialize.

what's wrong with me :frown:
Stress really increases the symptoms of anxiety, and the combination of studying hard and trying to socialise is bound to be putting you under a lot of extra stress. You're at an important time in your life, so it's completely natural to be feeling under pressure, without having to deal with social anxiety too.

Your GP may be able to prescribe something to help as a temporary measure, but it would probably be worth getting extra counselling/therapy specifically to help you deal with this additional stress.

Anxiety can flare up during to periods of stress so I it should return to normal levels after the exam period is over. See your GP or try a natural remedy such as Kalms or St John's Wort. It isn't just anxiety, lots of people have their medical problems flare up both medical and physical due to an increase in stress hormones. You're on constant flight or flight mode at the moment it terms of where your hormones are at so your body isn't repairing itself properly. Create a revision timetable including at least 1 hour a day where you just chill, watching TV, a movie, just a lie down, read a novel, etc. Also include 1 relax day a week where you don't revise. On this day browse the internet, catch up on cleaning or TV shows and just generally repairing you and your environment so that when you get back to revising you're in a good mental an physical state.
