Joint biology honours degrees?

I was looking at the Imperial college UG prospectus for biology courses and I saw you could do joint honours in microbiology and biology. Is it much more harder then single degrees? and in the end, what is the result: are you paid more, etc....

and also I'm hesitating between the Msci Biology and the Joint honours degree bio+micro. do you have any advice to help me choose between those 2 ? and is it better to do directly masters ore take a bachelor before?
