6 grams was the change in mass and so you use that to work out the energy released. The relative formula mass is used as you're finding the energy transfer when 1 mole of propane is burned, that is why you divide the 44 by 6

energy released (J/g of fuel) = energy transferred to water (J) ÷ mass of fuel burned (g)

So 148050 x (44/6) =1085700 J

You may have failed to notice the units for the answer are in KJ rather than J so thats why the answer is 1085.7 rather than 1085700
