Underage Drinking
My boyfriend, who work in a bar in the City with a large turnover, had to attend a staff meeting today regarding underage customers. It seems the government is exerting a huge amount of pressure/fines/police hiring people who look underage to go into bars and order a drink etc.
Why is money being wasted on this? Who even cares? How does an understaffed and overworked police force have time for this crap?
The rest of Europe has a much better relationship with drinking among its teenagers and adults: they enjoy good wine, good beer, etc. and their clubs are open much later than ours (6am isn't unusual). Yet you rarely see people get ****ed up or debilitated from excessive drinking. Moreover, there isn't this paranoia of underage drinking, and bars on the continent rarely ID.
This country should just get over itself. If a 17 year old wants to go to a club and drink a WKD I really couldn't give a ****.
