It all depends on the class you are in. If you perhaps refer to science, history, etc., then that is more of a waste of time, since literally almost everything is online, so why not just copy-and-paste just for the sake of studying if it is the same?
If you are referring to maths, then that is a worse situation. First, you would need to have special characters (like arcs over letters, lines over the letters, drawing diagrams of polygons and quadrilaterals), which is nonsense.
OneNote is much better, in case you currently have Word 2010. If not, go with Word 2013.
