how to use a data logger and light gate to measure acceleration?

Maybe you could use the data logger to find the change in speed of an object between 2 light gates & the time an object took to pass between them & then calculate the acceleration. Acceleration= change in velocity ÷ time :smile:

Use the light gate to tell you when the object has covered a fixed distance that you have previously measured (starting at rest) and then just use the definition of acceleration as

a = \dfrac{\delta v}{t}

and

v = \dfrac{s}{t}
