because its seen as not good to cheap yourself out. you shouldnt give your body to someone else for pleasure easily. this is the extreme way (and quite religous way) of viewing it - and i agree to a degree. the whole 'a key that unlocks many doors is a good key but a door that is unlocked by many keys is a **** door' is a little misogynistic but rather true. I would not want my daughter to be promiscuous, i'd want her to have much more self-respect then that.

Usually morals stem from the want for a better society. And one of their origins is the want to prevent disease spreading. When there was less contraception in the past it was more difficult to ensure that disease would not spread and so people were shunned for acting out of wedlock or having affairs as this might spread disease - dirty - immoral behaviour. And similarly there is still the possibility of spreading disease nowadays which is why the act is still not entirely without judgment.

It's just something I've thought up but I'd don't think it's too off the mark.
