Driving with someone in the boot

Has anyone ever done this / ridden in the boot ?

Is it more comfortable than cramming 4 onto the back seat ?

Once in the back of a 4x4. It would have been fine if the driver wasn't a ****ing lunatic.
I can think of better ways to kill someone than putting them in a boot

why were you in the boot?

what did he do?
They won't mind if they're dead.
Some dude was drunk and drove his car over a bridge
and had his girlfriend in the trunk, and she was pregnant with his kid
and in the car they found a tape, but they didn't say who it was to
Come to think about it, his name was.. it was you
Damn!

Transporting lots of people in a 4x4 after a party.

Overtaking a long row of cars on a long, downhill, next to a cliff blind left hand corner.

Some sort of Land Rover - one that a farmer would use, not a posh city slick. It was far too long ago for me to remember which one it was though.

Plenty, two of us in the boot, one wheel arch to sit on each!

Probably a defender

Mine is a saloon though, so no wheel arch to sit on

I used to get six in the boot of my Defender on the benches down each side. Another three in the back seat, and three in the front. PARTYMOBILE. Man I miss that thing.

I haven't heard of any cars that do 3 in the front. Thought that was just white vans because they are wider than passenger cars
Done this with two people in the boot. Was a Skoda Octavia Estate. Put them in the back and pulled the boot cover thing so you couldn't see. Who needs 7 seaters lol.

Oh you have seatbelts in your boot ? I wish my 3 series did too ha.

So the gear lever is in the front passengers foot well ?

This was my first car, several years ago now. There wasn't any seatbelts in the boot, but we were teenagers and didn't care and it was sort-of-legit because the seats were factory fitted. The transmission hump was in front of/under the middle seat and the middle passenger could choose to either have a foot either side, or swing both legs over and put them on the left as the transmission tunnel was closer to the driver than it was the left-seat passenger. My girlfriend at the time loved it as she could sit in the middle right next to me when she liked me, sit on the left when she was in a mood with me, or lie down across both and have a sleep, because she fell asleep in the car a lot. Strange girl.

I had someone ride in the hatch area of an Austin Metro and in all there were 8 people in that car. 6 of them very drunk

Also rode in the boot of a Volvo 244 and also drove that Volvo with 2 in the boot, drove it from Oxford to Banbury, had 7 in the car. 4 of them including 2 in the boot were rather hot Scandinavian girls. The trip was to get to one Thai restaurant in Banbury for lunch as they had a buffet. Little wonder that Volvo felt underpowered on the way back to Oxford.

These days I doubt I'd ever do something like that.

Was the insurance on that pricey as a first car ? Was it slow ? Why you get rid of it ? And why do modern land rovers not seat 3 in the front anymore ?

Were these estates or saloons you put people in ? Mine is a saloon and I worry that the air lock might be a problem

No it was actually very cheap. I lived with my parents then in the middle of the countryside and they used a specialist countryside insurance (Cornish Mutual I think?). I was a bit naughty and was a named driver, but it was worth it and only about 300 quid. Fully comp would only have been about a grand. It wasn't that slow, with the fuel pump turned up and the fairly low ratios in the gearbox it'd shift fairly well if you put your foot down. The chassis was very well balanced too, with fairly stiff +2in springs in it as well so it stayed flat around the corners. I had one or two boy racers in the lanes and tight A-roads which took the smile off their faces  I got rid because back then, going on six years ago, it was 80+ quid to fill up. At todays prices that'd be over a hundred quid, to go about 300 miles. My current car, a Golf TDI estate, will push 550 miles on 60 quid.
