For the integration f(y) question I rearranged it fine and did the method fine but I must have made a calculation error wrong somewhere because I ended up with 68/3 instead of 14/3

How many marks do you think I will drop?

I got 68/3 too! I hope we won't drop many marks, maybe just an accuracy one. I panicked and just wrote 68/3 was equal to 14/3 at the end :s-smilie:
I got 10.2 for trapezium rule Q?

Will someone explain to me how you were meant to do you the log question please:colondollar:

2^(4x-1) = 3^(5-2x)
log2^(4x-1) = log 3^(5-2x)
(4x-1)log2 = (5-2x)log3
4xlog2 - log2 = 5log3 - 2xlog3
4xlog2 + 2xlog3 = 5log3 + log2
x(4log2 + 2log3) = log243 + log2
x = log(243x2)/(log16 + log9)
x = log(486)/log(16x9) = log(486)/log(144)

What did you guys get for the exact area of the shaded segment? I think I got something like 88. summat

yeah i got 88.4 or something like that
Reply 86
Oh man I got log121.5 / log 144 !!! multiplied instead of divided ... ;(

X = 5log3 + log2/4log2 +2log 3 unsimplified. How many marks do you think I'd have lost guys?

I agree with all of Q1 except 1b - 3 sig fig
I agree with all of Q2, Q3, Q4, Q5, Q6 and Q8
For Q7, wasn't it 100 for 7a, use of factor theorem to prove
and 7c x = 3, x=3+root5, x = 3-root5

Ah thanks! I got to the third step and then didn't know what to do :frown:

I'll that it was harder than June 2013 (60 for an A) but not harder than January 2013 (54 for an A). So I'd say boundaries will be minimum 58...
Reply 97
what do you reckon grade boundaries will be?

boundaries will be 58/59 minimum i can't see it being much lower than that tbh
