I don't think it is lack of interest but there does seem to be a kind of social barrier.
I seen it work with specially trained operating theatre nurses, ICU nurses and highly qualified paramedics (the ones who go with the helicopter). Makes me think that the men might feel inferior if their gilrfriend / wife is more highly trained (and payed) than them. Apart from the fact that many women also want their men to earn at least the same and to be in the same league qualification wise.
