LePen tops exit poll in France

Looks like roughly 1 in 4 voters in France chose the far-right Front National party, with it being younger voters rather than stereotypical oldies (like it is here) voting for the nationalist option. This party is not like UKIP whose main focus is freedom of movement within Europe, these guys whilst also Euro-skeptic seem to mainly oppose Arabic and African immigration into France

I never thought it would ever get anywhere near this, why do people think this is happening across Europe and does the left has a duty to adjust its politics slightly to stop people turning to these types of extreme parties?

Considering the state France is in, this should not be a surprise.

Watching this live on the beeb. First thoughts are whether we might have Euro Crisis version 2 off the back of this.

The increased nationalism, I assume, is happening in various countries across europe because they are fed up with seeing their national identity and the values they have held dear for so long, being systematically eroded away by capitulating to the needs and wants of more and more foreign immigrants.

I'm not complaining, since it takes more gravy out of the EU commission's gravy train.

But their stance on Arab/African immigration is understandable, given the number of boat people that have been crossing the Med. The French being against African/Arab boat people is no different to the Aussies being against Asian boat people (both are justified).
Hardly a surprise, the French are generally far more racist than the British. Look at Tidjane Thiam for instance. Incredibly well-qualified but could not get a single job in France. Now CEO of Prudential here in the UK.

Make no mistake, the FN may be Eurosceptic and against mass immigration like UKIP, but that's where the comparison ends. The FN are also anti-semitic and racist. A good example of this is Jean-Marie Le Pen saying Romanians are genetically disposed to steal.
