Edexcel GCSE History Source Paper (3D) knowledge or structure ?

Do you need to know any knowledge because the questions usually ask 'use your own knowledge' or do have to know the structure in order to get the marks ? If knowledge is needed, what do I need to know ?
Hiya,
i am going to be doing the same exam and my teacher told me that i need to learn both the way in which to answer the question and the knowledge. When the question states to use your own knowledge, they basically ask you to use the knowledge which you learned during your lessons!
