Is Artifical Intelligence a good degree?

Quite self-explanatory. Is it useful? Can it get me into a high paying job? If not, are there any similar degrees around science/technology which would be more useful?

According to an admissions lecture I attended by the University of Oxford's CompSci dept, there is a lot of demand in the AI sector and their students that graduate specialising in AI find jobs easily and get paid a massive amount of money. However, it's important to bear in mind that they're still getting a degree in Computer Science, not in Artificial Intelligence. You should definitely do a normal Computer Science degree and then specialise in AI modules, rather than doing an Artificial Intelligence degree.

Aah I see, thank you. Any other degrees you can recommend which are related to science and technology/computers

Well... there are lots? Why have you suddenly gone off Computer Science?

I've not gone off it, I just like to have a few options to look into in more detail before I pick one.

Well there are tons of STEM careers. The two main ones directly connected to computers are Computer Science and Electronic Engineering, but there are tons of other areas that are more generally scientific or engineering based.
