I don't think Lib Dems want to legalise weed do they?

Yeah, they've had some arguments with the conservatives (naturally) but they do support it.

How much does everyone write for the 10 markers? How many paragraphs?

I have created a policy table for the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives. If anyone wants to add to it do and post it again on here :smile:

Thanks!

What questions do you think will come up?

For Conservatism: I am certain pragmatism will come up as it seems it does every other year. Traditional came up last year and also comes up every other year.

I'm not really sure about pragmatism cos its been on 3 times already- but u never really know! I'm thinking/ hoping that a question on Thatcherism pops up. And for Liberalism i'm thinking either a question on core beliefs and its influence on the Lib Dems, OR something about the divide over excessive state power.

Wat do u think? R u studying for the socialism section as well? I tried to but got confused so i dropped it:redface:.

I'd argue the European commitment is classic liberal rather than socialist, since they value free trade while socialists may be distrusting of a large pro-capitalist organization.

A couple of nice points i hadn't thought of there, thanks.
Can someone help me please? What are conservative views on individualism?
Reply 49
Individualism- they want to give people the opportunity to fulfill their goals unhindered, make sure the state doesn't stop individualism by focusing on collectivism which takes away individual identity, to make sure the economy is free and they like a large emphasis on law+order to make sure people are able to be individuals and protect them against others. It could also be seen as a reaction to collectivism.

I am not revising socialism either. There's too much to learn. I am going to read over my notes for an hour to draw comparisons, but not in-depth revision.

How are you revising?

I have been reading my notes and planning essays. I am going to write some essays tonight and learn some more policies. As well as re-cap socialism. It's gonna be a looooong night! Luckily it's a PM exam

Same here! I love afternoon exams...

How many points have you been told to make in each essay, and how to structure it? I would be curious to hear other ways of answering the Qs

Well to be honest, my teacher didn't even tell us how to properly approach the question, so i just made mine.

Para 1:
Brief introduction and address question- make reference to enlightenment era and link to contemporary liberalism (Liberal democrats)

Para 2:
Talk about at least three core theme that are directly related to the question

Para 3-5:
Here I would just make arguments for and against the question- 2 for,3 against, depends on you

Para 6:
Brief conclusion. Here u can give ure own view on question- speculate on future political changes

And that's basically it!

We weren't told how many points to include but I usually structure it around these paras:
1. Introduction
2. Define Key terms
3. For/Against the argument
4. For/Against the argument
5. For/Against the argument
6. For/Against the argument
7. Conclusion.

And in my 10 markers I write around three paragraphs, basically throwing all I know about the key term at the question haha

PS DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT PROTECTIONISM IS IN RELATION TO CONSERVATISM? IT'S ON THE KEY CONCEPTS SHEET

We've been taught do give 5 points and PEICE it.

P = Point
E = Explain and Evidence
I = Implications
C = Counter original point
E = Evaluation

Give that a try, it's a really good way to do it :smile:
