It's value is often expressed in g/mol - so it's the mass of one mole of that substance.

It's 'relative' because it's relative to carbon-12, which is defined as exactly 12 (the definition of the mole comes from this).

I should say that g/mol is just a way to think about it - as the above user has said, in reality it's the mass relative to 1/12 of carbon-12 and is dimensionless.
