What would you name this dicarboxylic acid??

The following molecule: http://www.chemhume.co.uk/A2CHEM/Unit%201/5%20Nitrogen%20compounds/formation_of_polyamide_nylon.jpg is called Hexane-1,4-dioic acid.

I just want to know why it's called Hexane-1,4-dioic acid if there's 6 carbons. Which would be carbon 1 and 4 in this scenario?

Thanks in advance

It looks like a mistake. It probably should read Hexane-1,6-dioic acid.

Ah, it was driving me crazy. I thought so! Thanks for the help!
Looks like an error to me. Wouldn't be surprised, it looks like it came from one of the OCR textbooks, which are notoriously full of mistakes.
