Boutique investment bank- easier to get into?

Is it easier to get into boutique (smaller) investment bank like The Blackstone group,evolution securities... than the majors 1's or will it still be very competitive like the major banks

plus will the smaller investment banks take in people who didn't go to the top uni in the country

Well, elite boutiques such as Blackstone, Greenhill, Evercore, Perella Weinberg, Moelis, and Houlihan Restructuring are hardly easier to get into than BBs and they also compete for deals with the BBs. If we're talking about small and midcap boutiques then yes.

Well even for small/midcap boutiques your chances are a bit better but not that much better, boutiques have very few vacancies and you still have kids from targets who didn't get IB offers who are looking at boutiques as well. I'd also imagine you have to be very clued up on your technical knowledge because I doubt they are have the time or resources to invest too heavily in to you.
