LNAT - National Admissions Test For Law

Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Durham, UEA, Nottingham, Oxford and UCL are introducing a 2 hour test for prospective law undergraduates who wish to enter in 2005. 80 minutes will be spent on making deductions from passages in English, and 40 minutes on a themed essay. No previous knowledge of law is required.

Is anyone particularly worried about this? Does anyone have any more information on it?

One thing does strike me: don't apply to six of the above institutions just in case you do really badly on the exam.

You missed Kings and a few others..

I wish I had applied whilst they did the LNAT tests. Much like any test, it can either help you, or it could hinder you.

http://www.ucl.ac.uk/laws/prospective/undergraduate/index.shtml?entry_lnat

At the bottom of this page is a link to sample questions for the LNAT

Heres an interesting info, about 25000 apllied for a law course this year.. 13000 received a place. It is the most popular subject this year.. and the number of aplicants increased by 10% from last year.
No more than 50% (normally) who graduate will become lawyers..either cos theyre not good enough or cos they would rather do something else (media/finance..etc)

[Info gathered from reading articles from the times btw]

TEK, I'm worried! A friend started a forum (no need to register to post replies) for students around to country to discuss preparation strategies etc, also to share results of the test and our uni applications when it is all over! He's called a few admissions officers so he has good knowledge. have a look at it:

Interesting thing is some people think that Cambridge will take it less seriously than Oxford.

EDIT: I just found this website: http://www.cataga.co.uk

Don't complain. It's nothing like the LSAT. That was a total bugger.

did you do both the LNAT and LSAT? how would you describe the two?

I did the LSAT a couple of years ago. Scored very highly actually, but then I find that sort of stuff pretty easy.

The LNAT isn't as hard, but is aimed at 18 yr-olds as opposed to grads unlike the LSAT.

EDIT: Sorry, just realised that I hadn't answered your question. Go to LSAC.org for an LSAT example paper. You'll see that it ain't easy. :P
