Care home (Elderly people) / Childrens home Volunteering ; huddersfield/dewsbury

Hi guys,

Any places that you know of that will take a 17 year old on in a care home or a children's home in Dewsbury, Huddersfield or Batley?

Any other suggestions for volunteering to get work experience with different age groups?

Also look at www.vitalise.org.uk. It is residential for a week, but is such a valuable experience.

You might not be able to till your 18, personal care is only allowed after 18 years old. Still worth asking though as most might take you on for the other jobs rather than the PC x
working with elderly people will probably be easier, the other poster is right you won't be able to do personal care, medications etc but that will generally be left to trained and paid staff anyway - you will fill a 'befriending' role which will be much more enjoyable for you! look on do-it but it may also be worth contacting services nearby and asking if you could come in for a couple of hours a week
