I would strongly discourage you from doing either of these things. Your teacher's note in your reference is fine, with regards to the remark. It is entirely inappropriate to ask them to interview you on specific subjects--they'll know what your A levels are. You should know what sociology *is*, at any rate. If you don't, learn some and read some before December in case you are invited to interview.
how likely are they to put me in a interview on politics or sociology. i could probably talk my way through politics from watching the news and MP debates but sociology i'm not so sure.

you actually aren't required to do any sociology modules until the second year (and even that is optional). i'm obviously planning not to do it and specialize in psychology.

They won't expect you to have any specialised knowledge about either, but if you ask to be interviewed on only one of the three subjects that constitute the PPS tripos they are unlikely to interview you, let alone make you an offer. It's your choice, but I would expect a rejection if you attempt to dictate what the interview covers.

I expressed in that section of the SAQ that i wanted to take the option that consists of just Psychology and Sociology- which they said at the open day was a helpful thing to do. Im not studying sociology at A level either- but this will be obvious to them *i hope* x

At the open day I went to the general PPS talk. They stated that in your first year you can either do an introduction to all three, and one other module from elsewhere, or an introduction to two of the three and two modules from elsewhere.

It wasnt a specific college that told me this, it was mentioned at their open day, and it said to specify on the SAQ if you intended to follow the second option, as its useful if you do get accepted.

This information is also in the PPS booklet they handed out at the open day- but is probably also online under course structure or something. x

    Interview Opportunities
    Hi,

Does anyone know about the international interview policy of the university (like, perhaps, quotas for colleges?)? I'm from Hong Kong. I'm just so worried about not getting an interview and rejected immediately, as I don't really have shiny grades (just see my sig...). Any chance for me?

    Thanks.

    Cambridge interview
When does Cambridge usually inform you that you've received an interview (I am applying to read mathematics at St John's)? do they tell you via email or letter?

    thanks.

    My college told me:

We will consider your application carefully. Applicants selected for interview will receive a letter in November inviting them to attend during the period 6th to 15th December 2010.

But this is just Murray Edwards. Maybe the others are different?

I received an email saying that I should hear back by the 30th of November (NatSci at Corpus). Not sure how or when exactly, presumably we'll get at least an email, and probably something through the post too.

They should send you an invitation to the interview (if you are going to be interviewed) in mid-November by email and maybe by post as well.

Because you don't have to submit any essays. Have a look at this

Edit: Sorry, I thought you were the OP. I can check for you if you tell me your subject and college

It's PPS at Fitzwilliam. Not sure if I've somehow deleted an email or something. I hope not!
