D1 Maximum Possible proffit

Can someone walk me through
B)iii)
I've been sitting here for an hour and can't do it :-(
I just can't work out the objective function
Original post by TenOfThem
The objective function is

3x + 4.5y

or any multiple of that

I got that but according to the mark scheme it's
0.5x + 0.5y :/

it is

We were looking at sales, not profit

How do you work that out?

profit on every x is 50p

profit on every y is 25p

profit on every z is 25p

So 0.5x + 0.25y + 0.25z = 0.5x + 0.5y

profit on every x is 50p

profit on every y is 25p

profit on every z is 25p

So 0.5x + 0.25y + 0.25z = 0.5x + 0.5y

omg thankyou :-))))) <3 you forever

So there's times when they specifically ask for 'profit' and others just for what, maximum? How would you know to differentiate?

What are you asking?

This question has nothing to do with differentiation

 I'm referring to how you would know not just to use the maximum objective line (3x+4.5y) and to use the profit line that's quoted as 0.5x+0.5y. Is it only due to the word 'profit' in the question?

Sorry to butt-in aha

I am still rather confused by your question

The objective line reflects your objective

The objective here was to maximise profit so the objective line used profit

You are referring to a "maximum objective line" - what would that be

Without going into semantics I meant sales, how did/ would you know profit was looked at and not sales?

Because the question stated that the objective was to maximise profit

Ahh so it can either be to minimise sales, maximise sales or maximise profit?

It would usually be

Minimise costs
or
Maximise profits

it could be
maximise sales revenue
