Im selling some items on ebay and ive had 2 people ask me about postage costs to America and Canada, if they did win the items and pay through Paypal would Paypal convert the dollars into pounds sterling?or what would i need to do to convert it?
paypal does it i think, it did when i paid someone in america. took it in pounds from me at the current rate.
Yes it does. If you are trying to click a link on a website which is in dollars (i.e. american ebay) and go through paypal it shows you the amount in dollars, and the exhange rate, and the equivilant in GBP.
If I recall correctly, you can have different PayPal balances for different currencies. E.g. you could have a balance of £20 GBP as well as a balance of $20 USD in the same PayPal account. This means you can pay someone in USD (e.g. for something you've bought from an American eBay seller); or you can convert it to GBP (or another currency) BUT PayPal will use the current exchange rate plus commission.
Take a look here for PayPal's fees, it mentions currency conversion at the bottom: https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/we...y-fees-outside
