'Rooms 1-2 are on the ground floor and 3,4,5 are in the first floor. There are two bathrooms and a kitchen / living area on the ground floor. Brighthelm has the reputation as being the best and is certainly the most popular, perhaps because a washing machine and dryer is included in the rent, unlike others. They are built on the side of a moderate hill, so elevated above ground slightly. I forgot to mention, the ground floor has a balcony from the patio.'

Funnily enough i found it on an old TSR Thread.

OMG, thanks so much. So I will be on the first floor. Good karma definitely coming your way. I was told by some friends that if we dont want to be placed on the bottom floor, then we need to inform the accommodation office before moving in. Your reply relieves me now.

Thanks once again. I cant wait to arrive in Sussex.

You'll notice that no females tend to be placed on ground floors of most places. I know in Kent House at sussex uni at least the entire ground floor were guys as a "rape defence" as everyone called it.

There was an incident of people climbing into windows a few years back. :colonhash:

Yes, I understand. I previously studied at Nottingham uni and they had a similar strategy of not placing girls on the ground floor for similar reasons. But at Sussex, I selected all female flat and so wondered if I will be thrown on the ground floor.

Being on the ground floor is a little scary as some of my friends had lost their mobiles, cameras or even laptops as the thieves find their way through the windows. However you helped me stay relax and take a deep breadth. I can't wait to fly to the UK. 22 more days to go for me

No worries. :h:

Any other general uni questions you can ask in here. I did study there for 4 years.

Heya Freshers!!!

I'm studying Economics BSC YAAAY. I want to swap East slope for an ensuite accommodation i.e. Northfield, Swanborough, lewes court or stanmer court. East slope is great for social life and its much cheaper than the other places so if you want to swap we can do so early and easily benefitting both parties.

P.s. I've spoken to sussex housing and they said it's fine and easy to swap even before the official swap list opens.

Thanks

William

Is anyone on here going to be studying Product Design? I haven't been able to find any of my future course mates on social media yet. :frown:

That's what I've bought too because it seemed like it covered the main stuff I'd want to go too. I'm going to wait until I get there if I buy any more tickets!

yeah i think ill probably do that too! i might go for the brightonian days tour just because i don't know brighton at all and it might help me get my feet a bit better!
has anyone received any information about when we start and what we're supposed to do, such as enrolment (I think they do it all online) and just general information like dates about starting. I'm living in Moulsecoomb rather than halls so I'm particularly concerned about having information because I can't just ask people when I arrive.

I thought about the Brightonian Days thing but I think I might save myself the money and just try to work it out for myself. I was a bit tempted by the comedy night though
is it better to buy the tickets now online or to buy it when I'm actually there?

Be wary that tickets may sell out before fresher's week. I bought online but I knew I would be going whether I was aloe or not. It depends if you'd go if you have no-one to go with.

I got a timetable, reading list and some other welcome information type stuff from the School of English during last week
I am looking forward to going to uni, and there are some parts I'm really excited about.

However, the closer it gets, the more anxious I'm feeling about freshers because I don't drink and I've never set foot into a club before in my life; and that's virtually what the first week is going to consist of for most people! What are you even supposed to do at clubs, because surely it's too noisy to socialise and make new friends there right?

Hmm you will see a huge emphasis on "drinking culture" when you do go clubbing but tbh this seems like a regular thing no matter which city you're in. You can enjoy yourself without drinking any alcohol but it depends on what environment you like as to whether you might really like it or not...be prepared for a bunch of guys probably trying to harass you or being more than friendly there's some real "thirsty" people in the first few weeks lol.
