PGCE Applications 2015

I've got offers from both my top choices - Oxford and exeter - for secondary maths (withdrew my application for Reading as I already had the two offers I wanted). Get to spend the rest of the holiday trying to decide between them now:')

got my place at sheffield hallam sorted, pending completion of the QTS tests.

Have an interview at a school direct one, they want me to teach a morning session before I even get an interview.

Thank you domitella I think your thoughts on the SD one has given me some insight into making my mind up.

Hey when did Sheffield Hallam tell you the results? I had an interview there on the 16th and I haven't heard anything.

they never actually sent me an email. I got an email from UCAS telling me something had changed on my track.

Log into track and check there, that is what I had to do. My interview was on the 17th.

I've had no email from UCAS. I guess I'll just have to keep waiting. What course did you apply to?
just PGCE in primary education.

even so, it is worth logging into track. it updates in real time, it tells you what stage you are on, if it is still interview, conditional etc. Might be worth checking just incase it has been rejected so you can see for yourself and plan ahead with other options.

Ah, Track is already showing an unconditional offer from Hallam for Primary PGCE. This interview result is for the PE specialism course that starts in February. It didn't go through UCAS so I've no idea if it will appear on Track or not; I don't think so. If I don't get into this one I guess I'll be seeing you in Sept with the regular cohort.
Just wondering if any one has an interview for Edge Hill English Primary on 16th January or for Early Years at Hope university on 28th of January? Little bit nervous for the presentation task but hopefully it will be ok. Also got my skills tests on the 6th January aswell!

Hate having to type this but i got rejected by Birmingham yesterday - i pretty much all but knew but it was still upsetting to see 'unsuccessful' on track. :frown:

Anyways, i have one last interview on Monday and I was hoping you guys would be able to give me some suggestions, it's for a history PGCE and we've been asked "if we were to plan a whole terms work, at ks3, on one individual, who would it be and why?"

Just out of curiosity, who would you guys pick (doesn't matter if you're not applying for a History PGCE - any opinions are welcome)? I have a few ideas already but just want to see what other people would say.. Thanks.

Hi, so I too got the knock back from Birmingham history PGDip! However, I did get an offer from Oxford so I wouldn't worry! I had my interview at Oxford on the 1st of Dec,(I recognised the question from my interview and saw on your other posts that you applied there) so don't worry if you haven't heard back yet! I feel like you have lived my struggle! do tell me how you got on at Oxford do you know how many places there are on the course? Also if you are successful do you know which college you will choose? and who did you pick for your person in the end?? Good luck :-)

I've had two interviews, one for Oxford and one for UEA. Both had multiple parts to them with group discussions, written tasks and individual interviews and both took about 3/4 hours all together (2pm-6pm). They were quite long, but I never felt like the interviewers were trying to catch me out or anything.

The interview questions were all really straightforward - why did I want to teach, what was a good lesson I observed, things like that. There was nothing particularly unexpected, but Oxford did ask me what kind of school I would like to be placed in, which was something I hadn't ever really thought about.

Hi, did you hear bk from Ox, I got an offer last week to read for the PGCE history though I had my interview ageeees ago like the Dec 1st. Do tell me how you got on!

I have my 3 interviews in the space of a week for hope, newcastle and northumbria. Has any1 any tips or ideas for any of these interviews? Struggling on what artefact to take with me aaaahhhhh!!
Err, this is going to sound like a silly question, but I just withdrew from two choices, leaving the place I want to accept. But when I go on there, there's no option to accept their conditional offer.

Is it just because it's Christmas? Or does it take a while to show up?

I'm not 100%, but I think quite a few people on here have experienced that and the answer normally seems to be to log out of ucas then log back in, and the option should then be there:smile:

Thank you! I did that, and then also realised that rather than the option to respond being on the individual provider's section (where you can withdraw etc), it was a [Reply to Offers] button on the main Choices page, under the table.

So I have firmly accepted a place at IOE! I was worried I'd be full of regrets about the other place, but I'm just super excited. It's conditional, but I already meet the conditions, I've just got to get the evidence together.
Has anyone else been asked to submit evidence they have passed their skills tests? I have been asked to do this but don't know how, emailed the uni (Sheffield Hallam) but they haven't replied yet.

Yes I took the print outs they give you into admissions at the uni

I haven't been actually asked yet, but IOE evidently don't know whether I've passed or not, as my offer is conditional on them, but I passed them in November.

Did they give youthe printout at the test centre? I'd scan and email it to them, and make sure you're test registration number is on it if it's not on it already (I don't have mine to hand).

I thought they were able to see the results through UCAS - it seemed like the point of putting the test details on the form - but apparently not.

I wondered that too. My offer was conditional and the conditions were skills tests, DBS and medical. I thought they'd be able to see that I have passed already, but obviously not!

I scanned in the test print out and emailed it to them. They were happy with that.
