most people i know who do have laptops took it out of there room like once in the whole year

I'm taking my laptop but it won't move from my room. I only use it for Sims (embarressing, I know) and DVDs actually. It is usually located on the floor, under clothes/books/make up etc.

Cable in most rooms (well everyroom in Mildert) and plenty of other places to get it including wireless in the library.

Not that I've heard, I think it's all included in the rent for the room. You pay your "Battels" and you're set.

Depends on the college. At Cuths it's included in your accomodation fee, but at some colleges I think it's separate....Collingwood maybe? I could be mistaken though...

I think it used to be complete seperate, but now it's included in accommodation charges. I'd assume this was the same across all colleges.

I took my PC, laptop and mac so I had a quite a choice of computers :smile:

I found I never used my laptop outside my room, so it's quite pointless. They're also really heavy and inconvenient to carry around. I prefer using a larger keyboard, monitor and a proper mouse anyway. I'm a Computer Scientist, so if theres going to be any course who would really benefit from using a laptop I think it would be mine.

The only use I found for the laptop was for watching movies in bed, or via the TV-out onto the common room TV :smile:

I didn't go up to Durham with a computer to start with, thinking I wouldn't really need one. I was extremely, extremely wrong - having a computer makes life so much easier. And a laptop even more so. :smile:

I go to Norwich and back once a month so I love my laptop for those 5 hours on the train there and back. It's where I got most of my essays done. The rest of my essays were done in the toilets, with my laptop. Not actually on the toilet or anything, I'd just go into the cubicle with my laptop and do the essay. The cubicles in Hild Bede bede block are perfect essay writing environments.
