Students (and everyone else), What is your opinion on "The Secret Life of Students"?
I recently heard and watched the first episode of "The Secret Life of Students" and for those who haven't, it is mainly about finding out about what really goes on in a students life and what they get up to and you can catch it up on 4oD.
I liked, as it was extremely eye-opening on some issues regarding relationships and friendships, but other than that, I felt like it avoided some of the academic side of University, which is why those students are there in the first place.

Aiden was a d*** haha....that other girl a s*** and the one who kept texting Daniel was too clingy and annoying. It obviously wasn't a representation of true student life, channel 4 just selected those they knew would adopt a partying lifestyle.....odds are at least one of those 3 has dropped out of uni tbh- on a positive note I shall be watching the next episode tommorow

Honestly? It upset and scared me for university in September. I 100% feel connected with Lauren in terms of her struggling to settle into university life; not having the confidence which affects me socialising (I prefer my own company most of the time). I'm also a non-drinker so I don't feel comfortable around drunk people which means I don't go out at night.

How is Jodie a slag? She slept with one person and that happened to be Aiden which doesn't make her a slag, Lauren wasn't annoying - she has social anxiety which stopped her from making friends but she soon found her wings with the society but I do agree that Aiden was a dick. Actually all 3 haven't dropped out of university... They've passed their first year and will continue in September.

I agree totally. I can empathise fully. I don't drink, nor like being around drunk people. With this skew towards the parties in the program, it is alarming to people like us. However I have been told from several sources that it is not all about parties, but I have doubts and worries.

I think the problem with Lauren was how she dealt with things. She deliberately ostracised herself and they way she did it genuinely appeared very attention seek-y. Sitting at the bottom of the stairs in a grump texting? When people would see her every time they walked by? It seemed like she was seeking people to ask her what was wrong/pay attention to her. Same with the tweets - saying all those depressing things in the hope people would reply 'aw bbz, u k whats wrong?'
Not liking drinking or going out partying doesn't have to become a problem at uni! In my first year, our block in halls was known as the 'party' block. There was one girl who didn't drink, didn't go out clubbing with us etc., but she was still got herself involved, came to pre-drinks, hung out with everyone, kicked our asses at all the drinking games like beer pong (because she was sober!) She was one of the most likeable and popular girls in our halls. As long as you make an effort and put yourself out there, no one is going to judge you negatively
Edit: The girl who didn't like drinking also organised so many fun events for us not centered around drinking (BBQ's, slip and slides, days out to the zoo etc., which we all enjoyed a lot more than going out every night!) so even if you don't like being around drinking, if you make an effort all is good

Yeh, I mean, some people just make university look like a joke and like you, I'm starting in September and will be worried about moving in and settling with my new flatmates. I loved Lauren though, she is someone I can relate too. I hope as the series carries on, she will find her feet and enjoy herself
Like many people said, Lauren got some stick on twitter not because of her social anxiety but the fact she was seemingly almost trying to not enjoy herself.
Even that Daniel she made friends with seemed to be getting fed up of the fact she was just seemingly trying to dislike everything. Like when she went on that bar crawl to 'try' it, she seemed to just be stood by herself making no attempt to actually enjoy herself, so then how is it a surprise when you don't? But then some of her flatmates, who will only ever be freshers once, decided to end their night early to make sure she got back OK. But instead of seeing that as a positive and feeling those around her cared, it was just more sulking and depressing twitter messages. I could perfectly understand why some people wouldn't want to share a flat with her, because when everything is trying to have fun and enjoy university she spent the whole week seemingly trying to drag people down rather than trying to have fun.

Josie's a hypocrite, claiming to be a Catholic whilst complains about not being able to pull. She needs to get her priorities right.
Lauren is too pessimistic. At first, I felt sorry for her (and even saw an aspect of herself in me). She needed to do things for herself and I'm glad she eventually found herself.

I do wonder how Aidan even got in to the University of Leicester in the first place. he must be a bright lad but doesn't place that much emphasis on his academic studies. Its the first year and I suppose it can be expected of some people to mess around in first year.
With Josie, I did like her and admired the fact that she put her sex life after her studying and herself because before she seemed a little out of touch. But I still thought that the whole one night stand thing was a bit dumb and sleeping with someone who clearly had the chance of having an STI was a little dim-witted.
I liked Lauren and I love her attitude when it comes to getting things done, but as I was watching, she did seem a little clingy to her friends and probably didn't appreciate them enough. They were after all trying to make friends with her but I guess she was just too shy.
None the less, I look forward to the other episodes, and see how the whole series pans out

Lauren deactivated her twitter?! damn, I suppose the tags must have gotten to her, was reading them and a fair few were sly digs at Lauren.
