This is wrong. This is wrong. This is wrong. This is wrong. This is wrong. This is wrong.

I got A*AA at A-level but had to bust my balls to get work experience, good score on UKCAT, do well at interview and take a gap year before I got my offer for Medicine.

Did I mention you're wrong.

You're ******* wrong.

I would be so pissed off at you if you were in front of me right now.

sorry. venting some frustration here.....

The grades are the easiest part lol

Do you think that's the case for everyone? I know some people who I expect wouldn't agree. With work experience, they say you just apply, turn up and watch, whereas with exams, you have to apply your intelligence.
The worst thing is when people say things like "But you got the grades, why didn't you get any offers"

or " But I got 5 offers for my course and you're so clever?!?"

Only Medics understand medics i feel sometimes. which why I think we might seem cliquey from the outside.

Even UCAS reinforces the idea
October 15 - medicine/dentistry/vetmed and oxbridge

UCAS does not reinforce the idea at all. The deadline for those courses is much earlier because everyone applying for those courses who are short-listed (which is hundreds for every course) will need to be interviewed. Other courses at other universities rarely interview, so there is much less admin, time and paperwork needed to give out offers to these candidates. The process of arranging the interviews, conducting them and then choosing candidates for places after all the interviews are finished over various days (which again is lengthy due to how all the interviews went, running through the transcripts, talking about the good and bad points, making sure the interviews were conducted fairly, etc.) is extremely long. Places like Imperial, LSE and UCL rarely interview for courses which are not medicine. These are the other top universities in the country; are you saying these courses are not as valued by UCAS as the ones you mentioned? Of course not; it's just for practical reasons, not for worth.

Ironically, it all starts from the Consultants who treat everyone like crap, thus every reg/f2 etc. Deflect that anger at the person further down the ladder.

Medics are up themselves, I can safely say this as a medical student myself, they are however going to be miserable when working. Junior doctors are incredibly unfairly treated though, by the state, by their seniors and by the general public. Let them treasure their vain nature before it gets decimated by the consultants.

Most med students definitely do not take a year out, they get in the first time. You had a much tougher experience than the average applicant.
All the med students I've met in person have been lovely people and not at all snobby about pharmacy. I did have a guy on my course tell me medicine students were superior to everyone else, which I wasn't awfully happy about considering I'd just started pharmacy, and there is a general perception that we're failed medics, which ticks me off because I had no intention of being a doctor. But there are nice people and arrogant people in any career path, sadly arrogant people tend to be quite vocal so you notice more.

What about dentists then? Most of them don't go into specialist training

After saying 'AAA and you're in' you've basically turned every medic/ dentist against you lol.

If it was as simple as that then biomed courses would probably not exist.
I'm not being snobby - just realistic.

Most people (I accept there's some exemptions) who do biomed, didn't get in to medicine. That's why many biomed courses, such as that at Newcastle, allow you to swap to medicine, through a selective programme, after the first year of biomed.
A friend of mine at Newcastle said, in his first biomed lecture at Newcastle, when they were asked who wanted to apply to swap to medicine, everyone put their hand up.

There may be banter among medics about this, but I doubt anyone of them would 'bully' another person for their choise of degree.

If you meet those kind of students, just tell them you study maths. It works perfect. Because they are below Mathematicians/Physicist by far and they know it.

ahaha good one.
