Lupton Accomodation 2014-15

So I've been allocated Lupton accommodation and although it was not my first choice I've been assured that this is a great place in terms of saving money, socializing & living area.

So with that being said, the excitement is starting to kick in!! anyone been allocated Lupton??

Hey! I've got lupton! I guess this is pretty quiet at the minute because only unconditional offers have their accommodation right now

I have Block H - I think this is all healthcare students judging by past years

What block you in? Excitements definitely kicking in for me too!

Yeah me too!

I think they just kinda lump the radiographers and nurses together because of all the placement. I think most other blocks are mixed but not sure. I would have preferred to have been in more of a mixed one mind, but it might not make too much difference.

Block h

No not at all! I actually think I'll be getting the bus down and do a few trips so ill probably try and get most of my stuff in leeds to save too much hassle.

What you studying?

Oh right yeah, you guys do have your placement and different time schedule compared to everyone else which is why they can't mix you with other people ( at least that's why I think). You'll have fun no matter what.

You said block H already sorry I missed it. Well we have a lot of time and leeds shopping centre is beaut you'll enjoy it. I'm studying social science ( foundation) to go onto child psychology, you?

Yeah I guess

Yeah definitely, I haven't been to leeds too many times so it'll be nice to explore the shops and stuff anyway.

Aw nice, I'm doing diagnostic radiography.

You excited for freshers?! I'm actually a bit scared haha! I went to uni ( just for a term) a few years ago when I was 18 (21 now) and it was pretty crazy! Not sure I could hack so many nights out now!

I really can't wait to start shopping and exploring leeds, I think that's what swayed me to the uni, I fell in love with the city.

Cool subject! Sounds really good. I'm 21 aswell though and I've been to same mad parties so I'm not sure, maybe I won't be able to handle the whole week but we've gotta make the most of it, cause that's the memories were gonna look back at in a years time lol.

Are you a party person in general though?

Hey guys, I got a lupton residence offer but I'm so confused. I don't know how it's going to be like sharing everything with 5 people.
So I'm considering Carr Mills, what do ya'll think.
P.S I'm an international student
I'm in block A

Yeah I wanted to stay northern and always heard leeds was a good place so was pretty sold when I had a little visit there

Haha thanks! I'm looking forward to it! Ah nice, I wasn't sure how many other people there'd be this age - sort of not quite mature student, not quite 18 years old, but I guess there'll be more than I thought
Yeah I'll definitely make the most of it!

I do love a good night out, just not sure I can handle too many a week! I normally prefer to kinda just like chill in a bar or at a house party rather than clubs usually. But I'm pretty laid back about night out and will do whatever really

What about yourself?

Hey, I don't know anything about Carr wills so can't help you there, but I wouldn't worry too much about sharing things.

I did a term at uni once before in shared flats and it was fine. Also if you are put in a flat with really messy and selfish people you can always swap then. Mostly people keep their stuff to themselves. And we had a cleaner that came in once a week to clean the showers (not sure if lupton does but hopefully). Anyway, don't let the thought if sharing put you off too much  everyone just makes the most of it when they're there

Where abouts you from?

Oh right so your a proper Northern girl! I'm coming all the way from London which is why I didn't expect to like it there like I did, but it really is nice.

I felt the same I was a bit sceptical about me being the oldest one and maybe not being able to relate, but so far on Facebook and Instagram the ages are so diverse it's not a worry at all, it's weird how 21 is considered to be mature isn't it lol

Yeah I'm the same, naturally I liked the chilled things. I think freshers week will be the only week I actually go out every single day, unless it's a house party were everyone knows everyone and it's more social then drunk madness lol. Good too see some laid back people already, I've said all I need is one person in my block who's has a sense of humour and is laid back and I'll have a good year!

There's not really a problem with the sharing from what I've heard about lupton and socially it is one of the best accommodations. I've also never heard about Carr mills, but I wouldn't let the sharing factor put you off as everyone will be feeling the same.

Yeah haha! I'm from Teesside so not too far away. Tbf you can't beat a northern city! I thought about going to london for uni before but just couldn't justify all the extra expense. I'm sure you'll love it - it's so much cheaper for one thing, and they people are usually great

Yeah I think we'll be fine  the only thing I think that might be different is I've lived away from home a fair bit before and I'm used to being away from family and stuff whereas that'll be new for some if the younger guys but apart from that I can't see why it should make too much of a difference

Haha yeah should be good! There'll be so many peephole you're bound to get on with someone right!

I know I can't really say much yet but I'm eager to meet people who aren't just health students as well, I think if I lived with everyone on my course we'd see each other too much, I dont want to talk about bodies n stuff all the time haha!

You been talking to anyone from your course?

Isn't Teesside in or around Newcastle? But yeah your quite close. In my opinion I think London is the best city for everything partying socialising, living and diversity. But cause it's becoming more and more expensive people are looking elsewhere. But your right everyone was nice when I went to Leeds, especially when I got lost a thousand times lol

You'll be fine then in that you have already got experience away from home, I think some people will be homesick an leave because of it ( hopefully not, but it happens). But I don't think I'll have that problem unless I'm bored outta my head.

Lol I hope so but I've heard so many university stories about people not getting on or getting boring housemates that it's something I'm really hoping I don't have!

I'm the same i don't want anyone In my course in my building, cause everyone wants to meet different people that's part of the whole experience. But If that is what happens to you, then just come Into other flats lol lupton has loads of students, so we're lucky in that sense.

Newcastle's Tyneside and the Middlesbrough area is Teesside, about 40 mins from Newcastle so very close

Yeah I still think I'll end up living in london at some point to experience it all, even if it's just for a year or two, when I'm earning
Haha, pretty excited just to explore and get lost myself!

Ah I know what you mean, hopefully we'll be fine!

Yeah exactly, I want to meet as many different people as possible. But yeah luptons meant to be pretty social so I'm sure there'll be plenty going on, and lots of mingling with other blocks and stuff.

Should be good! Getting so bored of being home now, just want to to start!

Oh right so it's Middlesbrough ok I get it, everywhere in the northern area seems to be close to each other, What's your accent like?

You'll definitely love it, but as a heads up you should aim to leave around west London near Westminster and Chelsea etc, that part of London is the most beaut ( and the most crazily expensive).

Yeah I think we'll be fine, I'm feeling good about it all.

So have you been like me just working/studying for 3 years and finally decided to go uni?

I feel exactly the same I'm literally counting down these 8 weeks, just wanna get started.

Haha yeah  it's kinda not quite Geordie accent not quite yorkshire - something in between although most southerners tend to think it's quite Geordie - just no where near as strong

Thanks for the tip! Not sure I'll ever be able to afford living round that way mind, but I can dream haha

I went to uni when I was 18 but totally chose the wrong thing (history) and just wasn't in to it at all so left after a term or so. Then I worked for a bit in a pub back home, then ended up going to canada for 7 months to work/learn how to ski with a friend and applied to uni when I was there, so now I'm just working back in the pub over the summer till I go

After I first left uni I was going to apply but kept putting it off but now I think I'm finally ready to give it a proper go!

What about yourself?
