Sociology question

Describe how biologists might approach the study of gender identity of humans differently from sociologists.
(Bear in mind I've only studied Sociology at university level, so I can't promise what I'll say is applicable to what you're actually after for your course, but I'll give it a shot!)

Biologists:
Look at biological features - chromosomes, gametes, primary and secondary sex characteristics
Consider the sex/gender divide here (complications between the definitions of sex being biological and gender being social and whether this is necessarily always true)
May investigate other potential biological differences, such as in brain structure and function (and perhaps the issue of transgender people can be considered here also)

Sociologists:
Strong distinction between sex and gender
Look at gender as a socialised phenomenon and the interplay between individual identity and society
May consider things such as gender roles and other social ideas, and the role gender plays in society
