is 16 legal?

as when looking at laws you can get arrested for dating a 16 year old. I thought this was age of consent?

... I suppose if the 16 year old is non consensual when you are supposedly "dating" him or her that would be classed as illegal...

No it's not. Do you have a link? Sex with someone under 16, if you are over 16, 17, 18 etc is illegal, but not when they are 16.
It depends on your age. It might be disapproved of but its not illegal.

I suppose it's illegal if you're in a position of trust (teacher or psychiatrist for example) to the 16 year old, but otherwise it's not illegal.

If you are a teacher and you are dating a 16 year old student, yes you can get arrested.
