LAMDA Stage Management and Technical Theatre

Hello I'm applying to LAMDA in october , I was wondering if anyone who has been accepted into LAMDA this year would beable to give me tips on:
What type of exprlerience I should have
What things I should say in the interview
What to put in and how to set out my portfolio

I'm wondering the same, I'm looking to do the technical theatre course at either RADA or LAMDA and not really sure what to put into my portfolio, any help would be appreciated!
Same here, I am applying to LAMDA, Guildhall, Central, Mountview and LIPA. It's such a difficult decision and there is so little advice out there because it is a specialist area. I'm struggling with what to put on my CV for the LAMDA application, but have just sent off the UCAS ones. There are a few conversations I have looked at on here...
'A-levels for backstage theatre?'
'Universities in England for Technical Theatre and Stage Management'

Hope that helps

I am applying to the foundations at RADA and LAMDA too, do you have a specific area of interest or want to do everything? Because I specifically love costume/set and don't know much about anything else... Do you think that will be a problem in interview?

Hi, sorry for late reply 😊
I am mainly interested in lighting, which hasn't seemed to be a problem at all. They all seem to be able to tailor the course to the individual, with specializing in the 2/3 year. I would just make it clear that you are eager to learn about other stuff as well, even if you 100% want to go into costume. They seem to want a wide variety of interests so that will be fine 😊 have you been to any open days or interviews?

Hi, I have actually withdrawn my application from LAMDA as they don't have costume as part of their course. I have an offer from RADA! I have all of my offers now apart from Bristol old Vic so I'm hoping to go to Rada in September  what about you?

Hi!
I withdrew my offer from LAMDA too as I wasn't at all impressed with the facilities, I have an interview with RADA on Friday :O and Guildhall in two weeks, I'm not sure what my top choice is at the moment but I really liked Mountview when I went for an interview 😊 what was the RADA interview like? 😊

Mountview is very nice and friendly, I did like it but just doesn't have as good faculties, guildhall is lovely but I didn't like the course. The Rada interview is quite informal, it's basically a chat and they will ask you to pick out a few things from your portfolio that you're proud of and they will ask questions about what you've done etc... let me know how it goes!

Thanks, I will I'm looking forward to it, got a bit thrown by the stage management questions at LAMDA so have been looking at key terms etc, but that is good that it is informal. RADAs facilities are amazing, a lot more than Mountview, but I thought they were really nice too. I wasn't sure about guildhalls course either, there is less chance to try new things and no option for a two year course. I guess I will just see how I feel after I have been to Guildhall and RADA interviews. Its such a difficult decision!

I thought it went well thankyou 😊 we did a questionnaire, then had a tour (amazing facilities) then the interview. They were all really nice and I really enjoyed it. Apparently its quite a while to hear because they wait untill they have interviewed everyone, but its defiantly a possibility 😃 I have an interview at Guildhall next week so I will give you some idea of what to expect!

Sounds like it was a good experience! The waiting is always dreadful! Good luck with guildhall! Have you been to other schools?

Hi! Yea it defiantly was 😊 I went to an interview at Mountview, i would say that is probably my first choice at the moment. I went to a LAMDA Interview but declined my offer because I didn't really like the location (with a really busy road on the doorstep) or the facilities (they are building new facilities but they wont be ready for our year of entry). I also went to an open day at Bath Spa but i decided to stick with London as it is closer and there are loads more theatres 😊 and then there was RADA who I'm still waiting to hear from, and Guildhall on Tuesday! The wait is realllllly difficult 😒 where have you been? 😊

To be honest I've only applied for guildhall , I have to fly in from Copenhagen for the interviews so I have done aaaaalot of reseach on the different schools and sorta planned the open house days. Guildhall was definitely the one I was most impressed with:smile:

That's fair enough, that's good you know where you want to go, I have no idea! Im sure you will get in with all that research 😊 what course pathway are you applying for?
Reply 17
I hope so! And congrats on already been accepted at some of the schools! The stage management pathway - hopeing to also do some courses in props:smile: do you have any idea on how many that applies/ get in?
Thankyou! 129 applicants per 38 places, that's for the four different pathways all together. I was thinking that sounded a lot, but if you consider that most people apply for more than one place, some will choose not to go to guildhall so it isn't as bad as it sounds why did you choose to apply to uni in London?

Well there is only one school where i'm from and they only except 2 students a year so that's one reason, and the schools in the uk are just better:smile:
how did guildhall go?
