Freshers' week?

Hi guys, I'm 21 and I'll be a fresher at Middlesex in october. I came from Italy and freshers' weeks don't exist here, can anyone explain me what happen during freshers' week? I really have no idea xD
Ciao!

Freshers week is the first week or so of university where everyone is getting to know eachother, there are loads of different events and chance to socialise and have fun before the hard work starts. Usually there is quite a lot of partying involved and alcohol but if you don't drink that's fine too, there are events like quiz nights and stuff so you don't have to feel pressured. It's just a great opportunity to settle in to university and make friends!

The Middlesex one, if I am not wrong is not very local to the campus (because it sucks). I think most of the events are at bars and clubs in town, like Fabric and the PI.

You would be very hard pressed to fill a Fresher's Afternoon, let alone a Fresher's Week in Hendon.

I agree, as I'm local to the area. Travelling into central would be your best bet to have a good time. Hendon has a couple of pubs, The Gallery club and lots of shisha places. However you'll enjoy yourself a LOT more in town.

The Gallery has been an awful, awful place since forever. From the beginning, when they invited a convicted rapist (Mike Tyson) to do the grand opening. The little Irish club, An Poiton Stil, a few doors down was marginally, marginally better - and The Hendon was the absolute minimum acceptable from a pub.

The Claddagh Ring can be ok, but I don't know if it's particularly good for students. There's certainly nowhere I'm aware of that does a student night.

Bearing in mind that you can jump on the 113 and be in town, there's no good reason to stay around campus. I would personally not advise anyone to go out in Colindale / Grahame Park unless you happen to have the Australian SAS with you.

You have various administrative things you have to do... usually hallmates wander round campus doing this together because they're terrified and huddle together for safety.

You will call everyone "mate" because you have forgotten their name and are too embarrassed to ask.

Then at night, you get smashed, ask everyone within sight what hall they're in, what course they're doing, where they're from and what A-levels they did, and later on have ill-advised sex with the least weird one.
