It depends on which subject you study - different degrees have different grade rules.

According to the calendar, for the majority of the courses if you are doing a Bachelors, it is 33% whereas the third year is 66%. So the ratio is 1:2 and if you are doing an Integrated Masters then it is 1: 2: 2

I hope this helps

ok the student handbook page: https://www.southampton.ac.uk/studentservices/faculty_handbooks/

links to the maths student handbook: https://www.southampton.ac.uk/studentservices/faculty_handbooks/Maths%20UG%20handbook%20201314.pdf

which on "final assessment" links to the maths specific page in the calendar (which isn't a calendar but is in fact the rules and regs for the uni): http://www.calendar.soton.ac.uk/sectionXIII/maths-bsc.html

which says that the default standard assessment levels are used from: http://www.calendar.soton.ac.uk/sectionIV/progression-regs.html

which says:

"Part I work shall be excluded from the final degree classification. A weighting of 0:1:2 shall be used for the three Parts of an Honours degree programme, and a weighting of 0:1:2:2 for the four Parts of an integrated Masters programme. This is in addition to weighting by credit points (for example, where Parts III and IV do not contain the same number of credit points)."

So second year counts for 1/3, final year for 2/3 (in a 3 year degree). [and if you did an MMath then it would be 1/5 for 2nd yr, 2/5 for 3rd yr and 2/5 for 4th yr]

University regulations - the closest to a treasure hunt you can get but with really rubbish "treasure" at the end.
