I would assume so. Why else would you spend your days looking in dirty mouths. :K:
Cos that's where the money's at!
I always thought most people do it for the money but I might be completely wrong. I am glad I'm not a dentist though, from my experience at the dentist I can only imagine it is so extremely boring :/ and you pretty much sit in a small room all day long! (unless you got a really nice practice with big windows looking out over something nice!
well it's a pretty easy job with high pay.

In contrast to medicine which is like slave labour for pretty average pay compared to other high end jobs.

I don't think a disproportionate amount of people want to study dentistry. Maybe in certain schools with more kids from certain backgrounds you'll get lots of dentist hopefuls, but surely also lots of doctors too?

To me, the mouth is just another part of the body and is not that much more gross than other bits.

I have noticed that the trend is, aspiring doctors are worshipped as selfless do-gooders admired for wanting to help people, while dentists are seen as just in it for the money.

Upon discovering my ambition to be a dentist, the first thing people actually say to me is "oh, good money". I know what they are thinking of me. It's quite funny actually. For me there's actually this weird kind of allure to going into a demonised profession (obviously not my main motivation).

An easy job? That requires AAA at a level and a 5 year degree? ok.

The job is easy not the degree lol. All those things you just mentioned have no bearing on how easy the job is.

Of course it has a relevance.
So Im guessing you think being a GP is easy too? Or a psychiatrist? lmfao.
Im not naive enough to think using a drill somebody's mouth is easy.

In comparison to other jobs yes. Weigh up which jobs are more stressful / time consuming / etc. vs how much pay. Don't be idealistic some jobs are just more appealing for certain reasons.

A gp has a comfortable job because they sit on their bum all day writing prescriptions. While a brain surgeon has the stress of risking people's lives every time he does an operation. + night shifts and all that.

A dentist and a GP has a lot more responsibility than probably 95% of jobs. Both of them have responsibility to spot cancers and at the end of the day have 100% responsibility of the well being of a patient. A single error and they're struck off and can never practice again.

There isn't really any risk involved for them if they're sensible though. They can refer anyone to a specialist even if theres a remote chance they might have a certain illness.

And lets be serious. GP is one of the easiest jobs in that field. Just because of the fact they sit there all day and don't really have that much hard work to do. It's mainly filling out forms, writing letters and talking to patients. You're not going to come home at the end of the day feeling exhausted or stressed out.

mate I have relatives who are doctors. Some of you just have tunnelvision and can't understand certain jobs are more stressful/demanding than others.

Have you actually done work experience with a GP or are these just assumptions?
