Depression and nursing

Hi  so I have depression, anxiety and a lovely eating disorder just to make things a little worse haha. I'm starting nursing at uni soon and I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on coping with the demands of the course alongside my mental health problems?

thanks!!!

My main advice is to make sure you have someone you can talk to at uni so that things don't get bottled up. Don't let things build and talk to your tutors and mentors.

You should ask the disability service at the uni what provisions they have in place, they can register you for DSA and you can get specialist mentor support. There should also be some sort of counselling service at the uni which will help you if you like.

I haven't found my anxiety to be much of an issue while I was on placement as I was just too busy, but the disability service arranged for me to have a document which my mentor signs that basically lets them know that there's a possibility I may need to go out for a breather if I feel panicky. It's good to have a back-up plan just in case.
