going into 2nd year- no more fun??

Hi guys
a lot of fresher posts in this section of TSR, just wondering about peoples experiences post-fresher years?

Going into the second and third years, how much does uni life change? I understand there'll be a lot more studying involved, but how much does the partying and drinking actually change?
Do people still meet other new people and build new friendships as its done during freshers? What about later years joining new societies, is it only a freshers thing to do so...?

Just curious to hear different peoples experiences on the subject

Second year of Uni is alright by this time I was settled in Uni, like you I was worried about the workload but it wasn't bad.
But I had so much fun in second year compared to 1st year. Yeah U still have time to join societies and make friends

cool. im not worried. i have friends in 2nd and 3rd years who some say it gets worse some say it gets better.
either way time is going too fast lol i want it to slow down
I think the best two years of university for me were 3rd and 4th year (I did a four-year course). The course had become more specialised so I was enjoying the material a lot, and I continued to meet new people through both classes & other uni-related things like societies, some of whom I'm still really close with. Yes, of course there were some stressful moments with work etc., but I felt as if I had settled in completely, knew how everything worked, and just generally felt more confident.
Yeah I'm not looking that forward to going into second year either :/ I really wish I could just be a fresher forever... dam I wish I did a foundation course -.-

On another note though, in terms of work. How do you guys (2nd years and above) actually use the library? I mean I've been there but I've never actually used books and journals etc and like obviously you can't read everything but at the same time you don't want to be just page scanning for a specific reference right?

Also, how did you manage with the change from halls to a house? like I loved my halls, they were just so huge and I met so many people there and it was catered too so to go down to a 5 bedroom self-catered sounds a bit meh right now :/

My first year was **** so it can improve from here on tbh.. haha
I honestly think I preferred 2nd year to first year.

First year was fun in that halls was an experience and it was great going out 4 times a week and getting away with doing absolutely nothing, but I think it's a once in a lifetime thing, I could never do it again

Second year I lived in a 7 bedroom house with all my closest friends, everyone had gelled so we had a solid group going on, we went out less (ok still maybe twice a week) and it was just a lot nicer knowing everyone and feeling a lot more settled with uni life.I did still make alot of new friends and the friendships actually felt alot more realer than all the names you meet during first year. The workload for me was only slightly higher.

Third year was a hoot but that's because I did a year abroad.

I start fourth year in two weeks and I'm not gunna lie I'm panicking about the workload and the fact that alot of my friends won't be living 'the student life' with me anymore. I used to worry so much about final year and university becoming 'boring' but I think when you get to final year you've probably grown out of that fresher stage. I nearly had to go back into halls for my final year and I was dreading living with 18 year old party goers even though I was once like that myself :P.
