Help! Going back to uni as a young parent- what can I claim?

Hi:smile:
I'm not sure whether this is the right place to post but here goes...
I'm planning on returning to university next September to start a new course at my local university (I completed a year elsewhere but left to have my baby).
When the course starts, my son will be 9 months old and I'll be living at home with my parents (no partner, parents' income £80,000+ if it makes a difference).
I'll need to pay for childcare at around £33 per day for probably 3 days a week at a guess, though I haven't seen a timetable yet.
I don't have any savings either, since I know sometimes this is taken into account.
Could anybody sum up the things I could probably claim? I've tried looking online but nowhere will give me an actual amount, plus I'm reading conflicting things about what I can claim at a time etc.
It's much appreciated

There's some info here about claiming for childcare costs https://www.gov.uk/childcare-grant/overview You may like to have a look and see if your uni has a nursery. It won't be free, but it would be more convenient, and I would recommend getting in touch now as they typically have long waiting lists.

Parent's learning grant https://www.gov.uk/parents-learning-allowance

As you have a child, you'll be considered an independent student. This will mean that they won't take your parent's income into account when calculating your entitlements, and therefore you'll get maximum student finance http://www.practitioners.slc.co.uk/media/96449/001_independent_students_fact_sheet_v03.pdf

There's a useful little calculator here http://www.studentfinance.direct.gov.uk/portal/page?_pageid=153,4680136&_dad=portal

Anyway, I'll move this over to the student finance section in a moment, where hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I will be able to help you
