Why do Students Party?

I understand this,

But why can't you all go to your local inn or tavern rather than them putting one up right in the uni campus. It's extremely lazy to me.

You say that like it's the students building them  They're there because they're used and they're a good way of making money.

Unis know students will go to the bars on campus. We go to ours because there's cheap alcohol, it's near halls, it's a couple of minutes away from the SU and it's a good place to socialise.

You don't have to go a long way to get home so it's safer, and it makes more money for the uni.
well lesson learnt then no? If you party you succeed:biggrin: To be honest i think that freshers week and uni are about being able to have fun and studying. In my school people got drunk going and went to class and they all managed to pass school. So if you don't like it, fair enough, but don't get mad at those that get 'hammered. I mean those names are silly, but you also have 'book worm' and intellectual silly tag names. You do what you do, and let others enjoy their time. What is it to you if they succeed or not, you should focus on yourself. That's my honest opinion...
This question is basically 'Why do humans party?
Please just answer this.

While the 'pissheads' were getting themselves into mischief, what were you doing?
You didn't socialise at all but did worse than the people who supposely turned up to lectures ,and probably exams, hammered.

Were you just staring at them out the window and judging them as they were laying in the gutter, or did you burn yourself out by not getting the work-play balance right?

The thing is it's all about balance. For example just coz you party really hard once and you get smashed it doesn't automatically mean you won't do well if you're able to still maintain a focus and study. On the other hand if the balance is tipped to a point where you party too much and you don't study enough, then voila you will fail ( unles you're a genious which would mean what i said is false).

Now, I go to all my lectures, I study and I research. I have no friends and nobody really likes me. On results day, I was one of the worst achievers in the year, with the "Pissiers" and the "Hammerers" getting so much better than me.

As a student you work hard and equally need to play hard. I found it a lot of pressure a time and going to the pub between lectures with your mates and in the week gives your brain a rest from the pressure and just have fun. oh and going to class a little drunk can be fun when you are all laughing and the teacher thinks they're doing a really good job.

If I didn't spend time in starbucks/bar/clubs/societies I wouldn't of achieved the 2:1 I aimed for because I'd of gone mad. When else in your life will you have such a great life style? lots of time in a close community of people who are all up for having fun. well apart from those who need to work at uni but most don't need to. where do you go uni? if its a fairly big city i"m sure if you join a popular club like skiing/snowboarding you will be iterated into the pack and get pushed along to binge drink and have lots of fun partaking in the many drinking games.

I go in Ormskirk, a town, not too busy. The university is massive though with lots of students.
When you said that everyone is up for having fun, that is true, but nobody would go out with me now, because nobody really likes me due to not going out.

Its illegal to "get high"

Who cares it their body to do what they want to do with it provided it doesn't become a problem. So you think people who smoke marijuana are bad people?

join the biggest social club and down a bottle of wine before hand and you will be loosened up sufficiently. You will soon get into it. If you are still too inhibited down some vodka straight or you could snort it but thats a bit risky. In my experience the societies are very friendly,

I bet if you put yourself out there, you'll find people
Yes groups have been made but there are those (very rare) people who are lovely and will embrace you with open arms

you don't live in the real world. lots of people take drugs and never get arrested. I think most student experiment with drugs while at university.

Of course they don't, I have never touched them and never will and I am still very much a "normal" person and a "normal" student. I think it may be you who needs to open your eyes and see the world in a mature manner and maybe even grow up, if possible.

70% of students have tried drugs at least once in their lives."druggiest-unis.jpg
