Yep same. Ahh I love genetics and cells! AQA, you?

OCR  Yeah, genetics is just a really cool subject I think, some bits are quite complicated though. I just really hate plants, wish I could do human biology instead but my school didn't offer it. Are you going on to uni? What are you planning to study?

Ecology is the bane of biology imo...
Yeah, just made my replies on UCAS
Firm is Biological NatSci at Cambridge, insurance Biochemistry at Warwick
How about you?
Have you found out your score yet?
Yes, thank you! Ecology is by far the worst bit in biology
Now that it's all done, does anyone know when/how we will find out if we've got a medal/got through to the next round?
And did anyone notice that about 7 of the questions were exact replica of ones from the past paper on the website, loool

Wait when did you guys find out your scores??

Your teachers can see it almost instantly after you do the test but some like my school don't give them out until the grade boundaries are released- I only found out because I asked.
Also, did anyone ever establish how many marks it was out of? Since I got 59 I probably won't have a chance at gold if it was out of 100, but it wasn't last year and I never thought to check this time.

I'm going to study Biomedical Science specialising in Neuroscience at Cardiff university
No not yet :/ if I don't hear at the start of next week I'll ask my teacher for it, she might be waiting for the grade boundaries or something

I was told I got 61/88, but apparently it was out of 89, I must have missed out one of the questions by mistake

The dates (20th-28thJan) are the same as last year's I think and they found out around the 2nd/3rd Feb
Just got my score, 65/89 which is a gold! so pleased. Unsure though whether I'm through to round 2 as it says 65+ go through, so not sure if that includes 65 or not. Still, really really pleased, hoping the awards ceremony is on a convenient date.
Wow that's a really high boundary this year, its usually like 65%

How did you find out the grade boundaries?

They're on the website now.

Gold60+ points
Silver54 - 59 points
Bronze49 - 53 points
Highly Commended45 - 48 points
Commended40 - 44 points

In addition, all students who achieved 65+ points are invited to take part in round 2, team selection for the 2015 International Biology Olympiad, provided they are eligible as described in the rules and are available for the finals and awards ceremony. This will consist of a written paper taken in schools in March.
Nooo missed out on gold by one mark :L
Just got silver.

I was told that it was 51 for Gold and 53 for round 2 for last year, so I was hoping it would be the same.

That being said, I didn't expect myself to get a medal at all, so I'm happy for that
Just missed out on a gold by one mark! Oh well, happy with a silver considering I winged it!

What about 65??? Is it eligible for round2?
65+ means 65 and above so presumably

I am a previous UK IBO team member. The experience was amazing and I would give almost everything to go again. To ensure you get this once in a lifetime opportunity, I recommend you start preparing as soon as possible. You can take part in BBO round 1 in January if you do A-level biology or equivalent.
I can help by giving advice and access to a large amount of resources. For extra help, I will be offering tutoring over skype for a small fee. Respond to this thread if you are interested.

Round 2 is extremely hard and a huge step up in difficulty from round 1. It is a theory paper and the questions will be in the IBO style of question. The questions are also of an IBO standard in difficulty.
The topics are the same as that in round 1 but the questions are harder.
