Canada on working holiday

I'm considering taking a (third) gap year to Canada. With an ideal of 9 month working, 3 month holidaying then travel down the west coast of the USA then at least a few stops in Mexico- with a dream of having enough money left to properly travel South America.

Anyone done working holiday in Canada? Generally tips appreciated.

Mostly I'm wondering about cash. In Australia right now and will spend the last of my savings traveling on my way home. I found getting work in oz tougher than anticipated so my savings are run down. What's the work situation like in Canada? Particularly relative to the cost of living since I want to be able to save up but preferably without having to work 80hrs a week.

I want to go ASAP upon returning home but don't want to be silly either. What would be your recommendation on minimum to go with? I know their is a min to get in but with oz if recommend taking more than that if you can so guess it could be the same.
What kind of work will you be looking for? And what part of Canada?

I haven't done a working holiday in Canada, but I've lived here for 10 years .

Unfortunately I don't know too much about the east coast. Only the west coast.
