If you're posh you say mar-ster. If you're not posh you say mass-ter. if you're from Nott'num you say mass-TEH

Its a north/south thing
Yeah I pronounce it like you: mar-ster. I though that was how you pronounce it?!?

And I'm from East London

I don't add an imaginary 'r', I pronounce it how it's spelt.

I pronounce it how it's spelt because I don't add an imaginary letter 'r'.

Yeah same it's said the way it's spelt, if I came across someone pronouncing it the other way I'd assume they had a speech problem

You're from Leeds and you pronounce it with an 'ar' sound? What's wrong with you?

Fully agree.
Mas-ter. Mar-ster just sounds really weird to me too, there's no r in master! (apart from the one at the end :P)

I pronounce it same as you and I'm from Cambridge

It sounds weird the other way but I guess I'm just used to people around me pronouncing it like mar-ster.
