You will have a load of admin and stuff to do during the days. You will also unpack, sort out your room, go food shopping, explore the campus, go to freshers fayre, do some taster sessions for different clubs and societies, maybe have a few introductory lectures.

Then in the evening you generally go to the pub with your flatmates and get to know each other and also meet up with different groups from other flats.
There are also organised bar crawls, gigs and fancy dress parties, that kind of thing. Decide with your flatmates which ones you want to go to.

if you want to get messy and get seriously drunk and have sex with 20 different people you can. If you just want to have a few quiet drinks in the uni bar, you can do that as well. No-one will judge you either way. That's why its fun, its the first time in your life you're away from your parents and you can do whatever the **** you like, be whoever you want to be.

People that go out spend hundreds mostly because of buying alcohol throughout the week and paying on the doors of clubs (if they don't have a freshers wristband/ticket). I've never heard of anyone spending as much as £400 and we had freshers fortnight.

You'll also be paying to join clubs, societies, etc., if you decide to sign up for them
