Do you need to be good at learning languages to do Linguistics?

I have a huge interest in Linguistics but turns out, am not great at learning languages. Whilst I do have a chunk of German, French and Irish under my belt—I find them all very tough and though fascinating, difficult to keep up.

I would hope that I could still do a degree in it, but know a good few people applying who speak +5 languages, which is pretty intimidating.

Just hoping to get some opinions!
