help with this English language assignment??

So with my verbal offer for English language and Creative writing came along this admissions assignment/exercise I'm pretty stuck on it though. One of the questions is, you're visiting a country where you do not speak the language nor do they speak English what's the 10 most useful things you will need to be able to say (and understand the replies) when you get there? And a hint was..If you have children it will help you, consider the first things we teach children to say in public? Also another question was why is the bible so important for anyone who wants to study the history of English? If I could help I will be SO grateful thanks!!
