Playing rugby for the first time in uni

I'm planning on playing rugby for the first time this year at university. I'm pretty broad and fit, and people have always pegged me for a rugby player. However, I have absolutely no experience.

How much of a s**t time am I going to have, and does anyone have any tips etc? Will there be other beginners?

There will probably be a few beginners yes!

My advice is to go to your local rugby club and ask if you can join their training sessions for the last few weeks before uni! Because chances are, most of your uni teammates will be very experienced and they're not going to go easy on you!

I didn't start playing rugby till I was a uni (but then it's lightly different for girls) but I know quite a lot of the boys team, and several of them were beginners at uni too. Depending on what uni you are going to, they should have a team to suit your ability, for example, my uni has 5 boys teams. So the 4th and 5th teams are development squads, which new players would start in and work up.
