i had interview for fine art degree at UEL.

a portfolio usually ranges from 18 pages...to whatever...

you could take some form of historical evidence such as essays, also notes about your work,
make sure your work shows a conceptual form aswell as possibly looking at something different such as texture, structure, making a concept about something that is unconceptual.
they like unique ideas, variations of work- some painting, sculptural, photography etc...keeps it interesting
something that makes them go 'wow' and really want you to explain about...something that looks different, not just drawings on bits of paper.
also, sometimes continuing themes and having one particular point of interest that can be explained in depth.
research of work, all different sources, from artists to other subjects which might have relevance to your work.
just make it personal and always prepare yourselves for any possible questions they could ask you on your work--- things you might not even think of they could ask you...like about the smallest thing on your image could develop into a whole discussion.
what type of art do you make? do you try to do a bit of everything? they like some experimentation too, shows you're still open to opportunites etc.

anyway, hope this helps, not sure what else to say! good luck, maybe see you at UEL!!
