I don't know if you're still waiting on an answer for this but in short; marxists think it's only there to serve capitalism, feminists think it's only there to serve the patriarchy and post modernists think it's outdated and that there's more than one family structure due to individuals having more free choice. Hope this helped!

u probably don't need the answer but just in case if other people might find these useful.

feminists would say that there may be domestic violence in nuclear families because the woman doesn't have enough power to go against the will of her husband. also they say that it increases in the patriarchy

Marxist would say that it reproduces the class division which is not fair because the rich people get better education and employment than poor people and this may lead to the exploation of poor people. this is when rich people are taking the advantage of poor people since they have to work for them.
