Apple student discount before starting uni?

So today to my delight I have met the conditions of my offer to study at UCL next year and I would like to buy a Macbook pro for uni. I would like to buy the machine before starting to give me time to transfer files etc. and I have heard its possible to still get the discount by walking into the store and showing a letter of acceptance by a uni.
However my nearest store is quite far away so I was wondering how to get the discount online.

Does anyone who has done this before have any ideas?

Your best bet is to phone them beforehand. It's probably one of those things that varies by store.
